NARRATIVE ESSAY

It was a winter night, it was me and my mom and my little cousin, me and my cousin was only 5
years old, we were all watching a TV show called el chavo del Ocho, the sweet taste of Arroz
con leche, until suddenly I heard a sniff, and a loud bang on the table, I turned my back,
everything seems like it was all in slow motion, my cousin was ready to hide, he ran as if he saw
a ghost, the only option he had was hide under the bed.
I was also scared I didn’t know what to do since it was my first time seeing my mom like that,
she was shaking as if her body was telling me to help her, me in the other hand I made sure she
stayed in bed and just cover her under the blankets, her cup where her sweet arroz con leche was
all spilled on the rug, I called my cousin for help, “ Chente ven ayudame”, no response from my
cousin. I waited for a while until I no longer saw my mom shaking. The first thing I asked was,
“Mami estas bien?” Her in other hand she looked confused, and responded, “si” but her tone seemed off like if she was lost, she instead asked, “ Y tu papa’ adonde esta,” I responded, “esta
trabajando, ya casi viene a la casa,” she kept asking questions as if she wanted to reassure me
that her senses are still there, as if to not be scared, I went under the bed to check on my cousin I
just heard silence from him, I was like, “Ven mi mama’ ya esta bien”, he was so hesitant but I
managed to get him out of the bed.
As soon as my cousin came out, he asked me, “tia esta bien?” Me on the other hand I reassured
him she was okay, until my mom on the other hand saw the rug and she was like, “ Quien rego
eso?” Me and my cousin both looked at each other and said, “usted” she looked at us in disbelief
as if we were lying, (remembering this now it makes me laugh) as soon I saw my mom got up, I
went up to my mom and my cousin followed to make sure she was still in bed, inside of us were still scared it was going to happen again if she stood up. She was like, “ esperanse tengo que
limpiar la fombra,” I let her stand up, I kept following her like I was a baby, until she caught on,
she’s like “ que pasa?” I didn’t know how to ask her but I asked “ mami que tienes?” She looked
at me and hugged me. My mom then says, “ no tengas miedo pero mamá está enferma.” Ever
since I saw my mom shaking I decided to keep an eye on my mom and just look after her.
Years passed by and nothing has really changed with my mom and her seizures, I was always
looking after her and made sure she was never left alone.

SELF ASSESSMENT

My skills as a writer have grown during class. There was a lot things i had to learn during this class especially when it came to different variety of writings and essays I didn’t think there was so much going on for writing for this class has showed me that it’s not just about writing but also analyzing and be more descriptive when it comes to writing and how it’s important when it comes to other people feedback. One of the first writing that I did for this class was Narrative writing it was really fun since it was about me and about an event about my life. I learned a lot during that writing but I could of done better in other writing such as the argumentative essay, photo essay and I didn’t try at all to do them.
